Dear fellow Loyolites,
We are very honoured and indeed privileged to take up our new responsibilities at LOBA. Let me acknowledge the tireless efforts of all those who have been here before us. Right from Jimmy Antony – the founder Secretary to C Padmakumar, Manoj Surendran and Anil Kumar P, each of whom have tirelessly worked for LOBA and what it stands for. We hope to carry on this tradition.
We have a wonderful team this time and I have the greatest pleasure in introducing them to you. Dr. Kishore S - Vice President, Anand F - Secretary, Jacob Mathan - Joint Secretary, Abhilash Jayapal - Joint Secretary, C Padmakumar – Treasurer. Other members of the ExCom are Anil Kumar P, A C Raj, Aravind Rajaneesh, Dr. Benoy Stanley, Manu Govind, Manoj Surendran, Naveen George, Rajeev Varghese, Sabu B M, Sobin Antony, Dr. Vivek Krishnan. And our guiding force, Fr. Devassy Paul – Principal, Loyola School.
For the first time this year, we have put together a Global ExCom who will actively contribute to the LOBA journey. Please join me in welcoming each one of them to this new group. The members of the Global ExCom are:
Anish Mathew (1981) and Tharian Chacko (1996) – Singapore (there is an informal meeting scheduled in Sin later today)
Appu Martin Thomas (1996) ) – Bangalore
Arun Sudheendran –(2002) ) – UAE
Thomas K Vaidyan (1984) and Deepu John (1986) – USA
Dr. Satish Bhaskar (1976) and Augustine Chandy (1984) – UK (Our first meeting at held at Leeds in July)
As we add new country/city chapters, we will keep adding to this list.
It is our primary responsibility to conduct the three events that are part of the annual LOBA calendar – Back To School (BTS, Oct 2, Gandhi Jayanthi), Global Leadership Awards (GLA, Dec-Jan) and the Annual General Meeting (AGM, Jul 14, 2018, second Saturday of July).
In addition, we have the responsibility to raise a minimum of Rs.2 crores from across the 50 batches of Loyolites. The interest from this corpus would be used for all our Loyola Welfare Initiative (LWI) activities such as the Medical Insurance Scheme for the staff (teaching and non-teaching, retired and serving) and the Pension Scheme for the non-teaching staff. A communication would come to you later this week which would have all details regarding the Pension Scheme.
However, expenses for the annual events viz., the GLA, BTS and AGM, as in the past, will be taken care from sponsorships and member registration fees. As has been reiterated many times earlier, no funds from the corpus would be used for these events.
This new team looks forward to your support as all our activities are up for scrutiny and improvement. Warn us if you have to. Write to us or call us so that we don’t stumble or look stupid. Help us run LOBA effectively. We accept that there is some serious work ahead of us and our earnest hope is to have you by our side in this journey.
Many thanks for your time and look forward to hearing from you.

President – Loyola Old Boys’ Association
